چکیده

Topicality of the ionizing radiation impact on organisms is conditioned by Nuclear Power Plants (NPP), releasing of various technogenic radionuclides into the environment during the operational period in different in different way. Chronic exposure of low doses of ionizing radiation to biota is an invisible, however, inevitable factor of the environment (Lu et al., 2006; Geras’kin et al., 2007; 2008). Radionuclide accumulation in abiotic and biotic components of environment can cause toxic and genotoxic effects on organisms (Geras’kin et al., 2000, Minouflet et al., 2005). It is known that distribution of accumulated Cs and Sr differ between plant organs (Soudek et al., 2006). Localization of these radionuclides is mostly found in the areas of the cell expansion and active metabolism, i.e. in the plant’s parts with increased requirement of water and nutrient (Soudek et al., 2006). Radionuclides accumulated in plants can disturb plant physiological processes which can stop cell division and decrease vitality and reproduction of plant (Evseeva, Geras’kin, 2000).

Analysis of Distribution of Radionuclides in Various Organs of Taraxacum officinale Web., Which Grows in Rock Waste Disposal Areas of Coal Pits in Kuznetsk Basin

The regularities of natural (K-40, Th-232, Ra-226) and artificial (Sr-90 and Cs-137) radionuclides accumulation by embryonic soils and various organs of Taraxacum officinale Web. in rock waste disposal areas of the Kedrovsky coal pit in the Kuznetsk Basin were studied. The K-40 natural radionuclide causes major radioactivity of embryonic soils at rock waste disposal areas – its share in the tot...

Quantitative Metabolomic Analysis of Urinary Citrulline and Calcitroic Acid in Mice after Exposure to Various Types of Ionizing Radiation

With the safety of existing nuclear power plants being brought into question after the Fukushima disaster and the increased level of concern over terrorism-sponsored use of improvised nuclear devices, it is more crucial to develop well-defined radiation injury markers in easily accessible biofluids to help emergency-responders with injury assessment during patient triage. Here, we focused on ut...

Assessment of the External Exposure Dose to Humans From

At present the Baltic Sea is considered to be the most contaminated with anthropogenic radionuclides in comparison to any other part of the World Ocean. Anthropogenic radionuclides (mainly 137 Cs and 90 Sr) found in the seawater are sources of the external exposure that contributes to the total radiation exposure to humans. The variations of activity concentrations of 137 Cs and 90 Sr in the wa...

Some fallout radionuclides in deep waters around Japan.

Deep water samples collected in 1963 and 1964 in the adjacent seas of Japan were analyzed radiochemically. Sr-90 and Cs-137 were detected in the deep layers down to 6,000 meters deep and showed approximately uniform vertical distributions below 1,000 meters. Mean concentrations of Sr-90 in deep waters were 0.028 ƒÊƒÊc/l in the Pacific and 0.035ƒÊƒÊc /l in the northern Japan Sea, and those of Cs...
